Assistant Pastor Stephen J. Nesbitt was
born in Pittsburgh, PA. His parents moved to the farmlands of western
Pennsylvania. Steve graduated from Mars Area High School in 1976. While in
High School he attended a 2 year vocational technical school where he
studied Nuclear Metallurgy. This led Steve to enlist into the US Navy at the age of
17, where he studied to become a Navy Nuclear Machinist Mate. He served
4 years and 4 months assigned to the fleet ballistic submarine, the USS
James Monroe, SSBN 622, Blue crew. He served 7 full patrols and assisted in
his 8th patrol before his enlistment ended.
He then became a Pennsylvania State Trooper assigned to Corry, New Castle and
Butler Stations. In August 1984 Steve met his answer to many prayers,
Diane Lynn Hasenflu. They fell in love quickly and married on September
7, 1985.
Steve attended and graduated from Slippery Rock University with a BS in Computer
Science and entered the US Air Force as a 2nd Leutenant assigned to US Space
Command.
Steve and Diane have been blessed with two outstanding children Nichole and
Joshua. Nichole is graduating from Pensacola Christian College with a degree
in Commercial Writing in December 2010. She published her first Christian work of
fiction, "The Journey of Faith".
Joshua has returned from serving in the US Marine Corp. He is currently
faithfully attending Fellowship Baptist Church and working at the Bike
Doctor of Waldorf MD.
Steve accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on September 26, 1994 during a revival
service and the preaching of Evangelist Dan Hawtree. Diane, Nichole and Joshua
all accepted Christ within 3 months thereafter -- praise God. Steve served and
continues to serve in most ministries within Cross County Baptist Church.
Steve attended and graduated in May 2005 from Bible College at Virginia Baptist
College (VBC) of Fredrickburg VA, under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Don
Forrester and staff. Steve was under the personal teaching and guidance of Pastor
Harold Dixon and now Pastor George Dickens, since 1992. He currently is
the pastor to the Genesis Nursing Home of Waldorf MD, where he and his family
have served and preached weekly for over 11 years. God called him to
this ministry - telling him to go "They stand on the threshold of eternity
they need to hear the Good News". Man states the elderly are set in their
ways and cannot get saved, this was man's wisdom not God's -- many souls
have been snatched from the pits of Hell into Christ's glorious arms.
Steve was ordained to the position as a Minister of the Gospel in May 2009.
